Seattle's Massy Ferguson have an excellent new album called Cold Equations that will be of some interest to those of you into Skynyrd, the Drive-By Truckers, and early Son Volt. The band features Ethan Anderson, Dave Goedde, Adam Monda and Tony Mann and formed three years ago releasing one EP in 2006 followed by a live collection of music. Their debut full length is an impressive record, mining territory many alt-country/rock bands have gone before but with lesser results; these are more-than-convincing roots rockers fronted by a convincing and memorable lead singer in Ethan Anderson's aching heartland growl. There's Springsteen-esque touches [and] hints of old Whiskeytown in the mix from this up and coming Pacific Northwest band.

In less than three years, Seattle's Massy Ferguson has earned a name for itself locally and internationally, playing memorable shows in front of packed venues in their hometown, entertaining U.S. troops in Germany and rocking alongside members of Phish and the Grateful Dead in Jaco, Costa Rica.
This hard- working quartet has managed to book shows in Europe, tour Costa Rica and get airplay in Melbourne, Australia, as well as support from influential Seattle stations KEXP and 107.3 The Mountain — without the aid of a label.
In September of 2008 Massy Ferguson released their debut full-length album "Cold Equations," an 11-song LP which is starting to garner attention locally and overseas.
